Starting from a strong heritage of traditional geostationary satellite assembly methods, we implemented a unique assembly line in Toulouse (France) and in Merritt Island (USA) and a groundbreaking procurement supply chain.

Reports to Strategic Sourcing Team Leader

Your Mission

As a Strategic sourcing manager, you will be accountable for supporting the commodity strategies in order to ensure short and long-term competitiveness and ensure consistency on all Supply chain actions for the commodity. 

 

Your Day-to-Day

You will interface with Supply Chain Project Managers (SCPM) & Supply Development Managers, Heads of Procurement, Programs/Proposals/Product Development, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Airbus Procurement 

  •  Set up Sourcing Strategy with the team in the domain you will be allocated and in line with:  
  • The company policy and business strategy (from leadership team) 

  • Sales and business development (from Programs & Product Development) 

  • Supplier operational performances map (from Supply Chain) 

  • Market Assessment and innovations (from networks & survey data) 

 

Maintain a Commodity Multi-Functional Team (MFT) network with following targets: 

  • Sourcing Strategy alignment 

  • Improvement / Competiveness contribution 

  • Infuse supplier competition 

  • Initiate targeted supplier development 

 

Develop structured relationships with suppliers for strategic matters: 

  • Lead Supplier Evaluation and Development 

  • Maintain regular Business Meetings with key suppliers, coordinated with the Supply Chain Project Managers (SCPM)  

  • Network efficiently and regularly and build solid relationships with suppliers 

 

Survey & Intelligence

  • Maintain product and service knowledge database 
  • Suppliers in the market 

  • Buyers/competitors in the market 

  • Market trend 

  • Set-up ID-card for contracted suppliers

  • Develop together with MFT a comprehensive Technology Road Map aligned with customer roadmaps and requirements

  • Share openly the market and product information collected with internal stakeholders

  • Anticipate industry’s changes and developments  

Sales support

  • Maintain a database to provide reliable and consistent quotations (price, schedule, risk) as an input to AOS various proposals 

  • Lead the collaboration with Airbus Defence and Space when appropriate 

  • Lead the tender and supplier selection process  

  • Conduct benchmarks and RFIs 

  • Conduct  RFPs & TEBs with the MFT 

  • When required, closely work with Supply Chain Project Managers to gather, understand and challenge major changes to contract 

  • Support competitiveness plan 

  • Endeavour to be involved in our customer proposal meetings 

  • Lead and contribute to actionable strategies with timelines for business implementation driving early sourcing and re-sourcing decisions 

 

 This position is based in Toulouse, France. Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Team Leader  

 

Your Profile   

Personal skills:

Key Procurement/Sourcing/Project Skills:

  • Ability to understand and anticipate  where the market is moving and influence this movement. 

  • Innovative, paying attention to customers’ requirements, interested in new technologies. 

  • Strong knowledge in contract negotiation and supplier development and relations 

  • Experience at executive level in presentations and communication. 

  • Technical/Engineering background. 

  • Proven cost, price & value analysis skills. 

  • Knowledge in mass production constraints (in space applications, automotive, aeronautics, semi-conductor etc.)

  • Previous experience in equipment procurement would be a plus.
